Monday – Friday College Football

Monday night we get a second look at FSU in the short season. They got the first drive in game one and really struggled the rest of the afternoon. This is a mobile qb in the big underdog Boston College with Bill O’brien at the helm for the Eagles. The offense has to be more creative, it almost looked like GT had the call figured out, and the defense well was outplayed. I would expect them to be angry after the loss here. I would get on the Seminoles but I’m looking at last years game and what we had was an FSU big lead and a near comeback 31-10 to 31-29. FSU has won five straight and 12 of the last 13 in the series. The number started at 21 and has been bet or adjusted down to 16. On the BC side we have Thomas Castellanos returning and on Tomahawk Nation they don’t have much confidence in FSU at all. The chance of 54% consensus I would say is somewhere around how likely it is they can cover this is why you gotta think consensus is laying the number and they adjusted it down the other way. For me I’m going to think BC puts up a bit of fight and take the points, I may do one of the dumbest things in the world then and bet the other side if I can get a good number -200 or better on the Noles, which may be a pipe dream. For making a pick I’m taking BC +16

BYU vs. SMU – Game in Dallas and the we see its around +11 for BYU. BYU players have had a few years to get a little more mature due to their religious obligations. The strength of the team is the defense, they were only a few plays away from a shutout in game 1. They are 3rd in time of possession in the short season and their backs and wide receivers can block. What they’re up against is Preston Stone returning at QB. Now the head coach went to TCU if I’m not mistaken but this team is capable of getting up and down the field and turning this into a game that could be ugly if they get the opportunity. IF I play this game it won’t be much because I haven’t laid eyes on these teams myself this year, that’s the thing with college football you have to get a look at everyone each year. I’ll take the points and pray because that’s what I’ve talked myself into picking BYU +11 and over 55.

Northwestern host Duke, and I’ve got to admit NW beat in week 1 as I was the idiot to follow consensus with Miami Ohio. I was able to see they are going to run the ball better than expected and the defense is pretty good. Last year was a different game, 38-14 Duke beat the Wildcats. New QB and new coach for the Blue Devils. The new coaches on both sides and this one may be a rock fight. 8 sacks vs. Elon for Duke. The NW game was 3-3 at half time so where I’m going here is the UNDER 41, really questions as the number gets bet down a bit but I’m going to go with the Wildcats here in a low scoring game, with little confidence in that after seeing last years score. My picks are Northwestern money line, when the line comes out that is and Under 41.
