Premier League Week 1 Saturday

7 am Liverpool vs Fulham

kicks things off against Fulham, last year the Cottagers won 1 and had a draw in the other matchup with the Reds. Liverpool have won their first Premier League match in each of the last four seasons, the longest ongoing run in the top-flight, scoring at least three goals in every victory (15 goals in total). Fulham are winless in their last 10 Premier League games (D2 L8), with their last top-flight victory coming against Liverpool in March 2021. Mohamed Salah has scored in Liverpool’s opening Premier League game in each of his five seasons with the club, with the Egyptian the only player in the competition’s history to score on MD1 five years in a row. Indeed, he has seven such goals in total, with only three players netting more (Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney, 8 each).

This one is expected to be win for the Reds who are a huge -360 money line favorite, of interests their team total numbers, -1900 over .5 , -380 over 1.5, and -108 over 2.5. Of the last five games between these two only once have the Reds scored 3. At that rate we look at even the first half over number -380 for the combined over .5 first half and the Reds first half -245.

While Liverpool is likely to win here as you can see the bookmakers have shaded the odds in their favor heavy and you have to make a choice to either lay the heavy odds, wait and try to get in on live bet at a better rate, parlay the -360 with your next favorite pick on the board or just leave it alone for one that might better suit your budget.

10 AM Bournemouth vs Aston Villa

We see Aston Villa the favorite at even money here. Aston Villa have lost two of their three opening day Premier League matches since returning to the top-flight in 2019 (W1), shipping three goals in each defeat: 1-3 vs Spurs in 2019-20 and 2-3 vs Watford in 2021-22. Aston Villa finished the 2021-22 Premier League campaign with just two wins from their final 11 games (D3 L6), with those victories coming against Norwich City and Burnley, who were both relegated.

Bournemouth has won 3 of the last 5 vs. the Villans however they have not keep a single clean sheet vs Aston Villa in the five games. Aston Villa have scored in each of their last eight against the Cherries in all competitions. Nine of their 11 total goals against them have come in the second half of games, including all four in the Premier League.

With the mostly second half success for Aston here this might be a perfect situation to let the first half play out and if it goes one way or the other then you’ve lost nothing, but with Aston over .5 at -400 you may be able to get a way better rate on them scoring in the second half. While that over . 5 may be the most likely play to happen we haven’t seen a draw in the last five matchups here either and with 3 wins for the Cherries in those last 5 the side play isn’t where I’ll be putting my chips unless you like your odds with Bournemouth where you can get +.5 goals covering a win or tie with the Cherries at -120.

10 AM Newcastle United vs. Nottingham Forrest

Newcastle have won 12 of their 19 Premier League games so far in 2022, with only Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham winning more. It’s already more league games than they won in both 2020 (9) and 2021 (8). However Newcastle United have only won their first Premier League match in one of their last eight seasons at this level (D1 L6), beating West Ham United in 2020-21.

You can look at New Castle here -150, preseason New Castle 3 W and 2 L while Nottingham 1 W, 1 L and 3 Draws against not really the toughest competition. Even with New Castles recent history in opening days being shaky I feel they are likely to get a win here. The other play to look at is -550 over .5 goals for New Castle as a possible play in your parlay.
